Duplicating Layer Styles in Photoshop 6

by John Hilton, Adult NetSurprise

How do you copy Layer Styles from one layer to another in Photoshop 6 is a question I'm often asked and the answer will make you smile! The phrase "it's easy when you know how" is very apt here!

To create the polished look you are after it's often necessary to apply several different Photoshop Layer Styles to a graphic. There are many choices, many combinations and many variables. It can take a while and a lot of experimentation to get things looking just right and in an ideal world you want to be able to quickly duplicate the result and apply it to additional layers. It would also be very handy if you could copy and apply a previously saved and favorite look to a completely new graphic, in this way you could start building up your own Layer Style library of successful combined effects.

How do you do it? Simply right click on the layer which contains the Layer Style that you want to duplicate and from the drop down menu click on Copy Layer Style. Select the layer you want to apply the copied Layer Style to, right click and select Paste Layer Style! In this way you can duplicate Layer Styles and copy them from one layer to the next or from a previously saved psd file to a new one.

What was that you muttered? hehehe
